A Blessing in Disguise is Eleanora E. Tate's third novel in a trilogy of books whose setting is Calvary County on the coast of South Carolina. Its sister books are The Secret of Gumbo Grove, a Parents' Choice Gold Seal Award winner, and Thank You, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr!, a National Council for the Social Studies-Children's Book Council Notable children's book, and a Child Study Association Children's Book of the year. She is also the author of Retold African Myths. Her book Just an Overnight Guest, which was made into an award-winning movie, is a companion to Front Porch Stories at One Room School, and American Bookseller Pick of the List. Also a journalist, MS. Tate is a former nation president of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. A native of Canton, Missouri, Ms. Tate currently lives in North Carolina.
