AUTHOR Peggy Mercer


PEGGY MERCER is a popular writer who was a 2008 nominee for Georgia Author of the Year for her children’s book, There Come a Soldier. A southerner, she was born and raised near the beautiful Satilla River about which she writes. Peggy attended Coffee County Schools, the University of Georgia, holds a B.F.A. from Valdosta State College and a master’s degree from Florida State University. She has worked as a photographer, teacher, newspaper columnist and librarian. Peggy is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and Broadcast Music Industry. Her songs have been recorded in Nashville by hit songwriters and singers. A dynamic speaker, Peggy is a frequent visitor to classrooms and assemblies and makes presentations to groups and organizations. She also teaches aspiring authors and songwriters.
