He won numerous awards and honors for his published work, including the Carter G. Woodson Award, Coretta Scott King Award and the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for excellence in the field of music. Haskins's latest books include Keeping the Faith: African American Sermons of Liberation; The March on Washington and Freedom Rides: Journey for Justice, both released under Just Us Books' Sankofa Books imprint.
